Writing is where I find my greatest joy.

After many years as a psychosexual and relationship therapist, trainer, and networking facilitator, I stepped back in 2017 to focus on my writing, while occasionally leading training events.

Fueled by tea, I enjoy writing magazine articles on a wide range of topics. For Bees and Other Pollinators Quarterly, I explore the mindful observation of insects, while Threshold Magazine featured my account of James Joyce’s daughter’s institutionalisation in Dancing with Lucia. For Scan Magazine, I interview Scandinavian business owners and craft personal narratives about their ventures and products. In Discover CleanTech, I research and write about sustainability initiatives—from Canary Wharf’s collaboration with the Eden Project to the use of spent coffee grounds in food and beauty products.

One of my favourite projects is the Google Wellness Journal, designed to help employees maintain both psychological and physical well-being. Filled with prompts and strategies, it supports professionals at all levels in tracking their mental health, performance, and workplace expectations.

My debut non-fiction book, The Essential Companion to Talking Therapy, was published by Watkins Publishing in February 2021 and has received outstanding reviews, some of which you’ll find on these pages. Written in clear and accessible language, this book is a valuable guide for anyone interested in therapy—whether you're considering therapy yourself, training to become a therapist, or simply curious about this often private world.

One of the best recommendations for The Essential Companion to Talking Therapy was on Facebook. It said:

"I read this book, it's great"

Another review on Amazon simply said:

"Excellent"

You cannot get more straightforward and honest than that, and I thank the readers for taking the time to review my book.

"Working with Karin on The Wellness Journal was a real pleasure. I was
extremely impressed by her ability to carry out the required
background research and then write about this important topic in an
engaging and accessible way, all while working to a tight deadline.
Karin comes highly recommended as a copywriter!"

“What Karin Blak has achieved with her book ‘Talking Therapy’ is quite remarkable. A sort of bible for anyone who wants to know about the process of finding a therapist,

becoming a therapist, what to expect and

how to get the most out of your journey, and then some.”
